Teacher of the Year suspended for “promoting gay agenda” by sharing Disney costume photo with students
Since September 2017, two-time award-winning teacher of the year Stacy Bailey has been suspended from her job and isolated from her school family. The reason for her suspension? Ms. Bailey showed a whimsical photo of herself and her spouse (below) in Disney costumes.
In her public statement, Bailey’s spouse Julie Vazquez described how Bailey had been singled out for, “…showing a picture of her family, just as any teacher would.” Ms. Bailey has filed a discrimination lawsuit in response to her suspension.
Her legal path is difficult; Texas law does not prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation.
