Perris Elementary Teachers Hit the Pavement for Endorsed Candidates

Perris Board member 3After several years of difficult negotiations with the Perris Elementary School District (PESD), Perris Elementary Teachers Association (PETA) members have taken action to support three new candidates; Dana Mclead – Trustee Area 1, Michelle Maisel – Trustee Area 3, Maribel Nava – Trustee Area 5, for the November 6th election to Perris Elementary School District board of trustees. (PESD). The candidates are all supporting one another’s campaigns and running as a slate.

PETA began their official efforts during Back-to-School Nights by joining candidates at all Perris Elementary school sites and introducing those endorsed candidates to each community of parents in the district. Teachers assisted the effort by passing out flyers before the night’s events and will continue their outreach throughout the fall campaign season. That assistance will include precinct walking ij each trustee area, hosting a forum on September 27th, and through financial support of their campaigns.

PETA Political Action Chair Craig Hardesty explained the importance of this year’s board race to the Perris Community; “This school board election is about ensuring that all Perris students receive the same access to school resources that provide opportunities for successful educational outcomes- regardless of a student’s zip code.”
